The streets are coming back to FIFA…
Words by Jason Sewald
Recently EA just unveiled their new trailer for FIFA 20 and for the most part it was the same as you would expect; with improved graphics and gameplay. However, one thing caught many people’s eye and that is the new game mode they dubbed “Volta.”
In short, what Volta seems to be is a FIFA Street mode. Now, we may have not been shown a lot, but the idea of a new FIFA Street coming back has a lot of us reminiscing about the good old PS2 days and the Nike Joga Bonito ads, and honestly I’ve not been this excited about a new FIFA in a very long time. The game looks the best it has ever been and it feels like the developers have really squeezed out every bit that the Frostbite engine has to offer and that effort has me quite hopeful.
However, will it be good? Now the reason why I ask this is because EA aren’t exactly in a lot of people’s good books, although I have bought every single FIFA since 08, I still voice my displeasure of certain aspects of the game every time. EA just have this uncanny ability to ruin something that is supposed to be fun with their tweaking and honestly this has shown in their track record; just look at the timed finishing fiasco.
All that being said, Volta looks like a fun new addition which will get a lot more people interested in FIFA again I just hope that EA don’t drop the ball (excuse the pun) with it as they have with other modes.
