I had the pleasure of attending one of the most soul-filled events of 2018 and boy I was not disappointed. If R&B tickles your fancy – Scala was the place to be for the one and only Samm Henshaw.
The show opened strong with French National Anais leaving the crowd in awe with her amazing vocal range. The moment she sang I knew I was in for a great time. Next up on the roster the up and coming Barney Artist. I did not know a single lyric but he had the whole crowd vibing to every beat of every song. I didn’t think it could get any better.
Then the main man himself touched the stage. Performing hit tracks from critically acclaimed projects The Sound Experiments 1 and 2 Samm took the crowd by storm. Personally, there were many songs from both projects I was never really a fan of; I can now say that you’ve never truly heard Samm Henshaw until you’ve heard him live. Songs such as Redemption, Broke and Only Wanna Be With You left the crowd star struck.
To make things even better, Samm performed songs that have not yet been released, and without giving too much away; his next project is bound to be a hit! The soul this man has infused into his music is seldom found in this era of music. The only place I have ever attended with that much soul is the church. Bringing out the living legend Wretch 32, Samm closed the show with his latest song ‘Doubt’ and truly left the crowd wanting so much more. I can’t tell you much about Samm Henshaw, but I can tell this is a man who truly understands music and you are missing something special if you don’t get to know!
