Rich Brian brings Dat $tick to O2 Academy Islington

The Indonesian rapper, who’s song Dat $tick propelled him to unexpected heights is on the European leg of his headline tour, in support of his latest album; AMEN.
Supported by August 08, who features on the albums closer, along with his DJ; Barney Bones opened up for Rich Brian at the first of his back to back shows at O2 Academy Islington. A majority of the sold out crowd were singing and rapping along with August throughout his set, showing they came to see both the headline and his opening act. After August’s set, along with a separate DJ set which energised the sold out crowd by playing Hip-Hop’s biggest current songs, Rich Brian took the stage.
Throughout his set, Brian repeatedly took breaks to thank the crowd for turning up and waiting out in the cold for him. He also seemed humbled and down to earth about how he made it from Indonesia to sold out shows in London. Energy was huge throughout the entire show; there was even an energetic happy birthday singalong to Brian’s tour DJ. He performed fan favourite and stand out track Dat $tick TWICE; it went off both times.
The only bad thing I’d say about the show; too short. Just over 30 minutes long, plenty fans were somewhat disappointed with how short the set was, considering some waited over 3 hours in the snow. But, as Brian grows, I’m sure the sets and the venues will get bigger and better.
