R&B singer Rasharn Powell, who recently released his debut project ‘Stuck in Transit’ hosted a screening and Q&A at Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes in Shoreditch.
The screening was for his latest visual; a music video for his song ‘Gold on my Neck’ – a song which is a tribute and testament to the strength, guidance and love placed upon him by his grandmother. The black and white video features a care-free Rasharn, accompanied by his friends as they roam the streets and hang out of car windows in Rasharn‘s hometown of London.
But this was more than a video screening. This was an event curated by Rasharn and his manager to bring people together; to vibe and listen to great music. Free popcorn and sweets were provided to all guests to enjoy during the screening (and during the subsequent screening of the movie Friday), while Rasharn was also selling his highly sought after ‘Black Don’t Crack’ merchandise for the first time – worn by his team and his friends throughout the event.
The short Q&A afterwards, hosted by Shay Shad, featured questions about Rasharn’s influences, his grandma, future plans and favourite songs. The Q&A also included truthful and wise words from Rasharn mother – “he’s my son, I’m always going to like his work. But everyone here doesn’t have to like it. So to see that they do like his work, it means a lot.”
Rasharn and his team put on a memorable event; bringing fans of music together to have a good, fun and enjoyable time while listening to and gaining an insight to an artist that some people were being introduced to for the first time.
