Jhene Aiko’s live shows are just like her album: A Trip

Jhene Aiko then took the stage. Just before her entrance, a warning played to fans that they should expect bright, strobe and trippy visuals throughout the show; which shows how appropriate the name ‘TRIP’ was for the tour. Surrounded by plants, Jhene took the stage and heard 2000 fans screaming and singing every word.
The warning about the visuals was correct. Lights of all colours; pink, purple, green, blue, red (you name a colour and it was there) were shining throughout the entire show. The screen behind Jhene often played some of her music videos, with an added trippy effect. Classic solo songs like ‘The Worst’, along with her monumental features on hits ‘Post to Be’ and ‘From Time’ were the songs that received the biggest cheers and singalongs. Jhene Aiko can for sure sell out bigger and grander venues, but the intimacy of Shepard’s Bush Empire worked in her favour.
The show ended with Jhene bringing a lorry load of friends on stage to dance and vibe with her as she played her final song, which was a testament to the overall feel of the concert; a light-hearted, fun night out.
Bravo to Jhene Aiko and IAMDDB for putting on a show.
