JASON’S TOP 5 GAMES OF 2017
WRITTEN BY JASON SEWALD
We’re nearing the end of the year and that means lists!!! Lists for music, films, sporting achievements and of course; games. 2017 has been quite the year in terms of gaming; with the release of the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One X and a whole barrel of wonderful games. Narrowing down what would be my favourites of this year is no easy task but I’m going to try anyway so here are my Top Games of 2017.
Crash Bandicoot Remake
5. SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY
Kicking off this list is a game that scored a perfect 10 from a publication which hasn’t given a 10 for the last 20 years; so not including this game would be blasphemous. Super Mario Odyssey is essentially like every Mario game. Fun, colourful and great to play. With its new mechanics and feel of the game, Mario and the people at Nintendo really just confirmed GOAT status with this one.
4. Legend of Zelda: Beneath of The Wild
One of the launch titles for the Nintendo Switch; no one really could’ve anticipated how well this game did. Don’t get me wrong, Zelda is a great franchise and the majority of games are amazing. However, this game has just been sweeping awards after awards and so far has been the highest average rating of any game on this planet. I would go on but that really just speaks for itself.
3. Tekken 7
Best fighting game out. I’ll one on one you right now if you think otherwise; just drop me a DM, give me your gamertag and we can see what’s up.
2. Assassins Creed Origins
That 2 year break Ubisoft took for this game was definitely worth it. I feel like they finally took the time to breathe and look at the things they needed to fix and make us long-time fans fall in love with the franchise again, and “fall in love” we did. We fell in love with the map, we fell in love with the new RPG style approach and we fell in love with the story of the game.
- PERSONA 5
Oh boy where to start… Persona 5 is a game I absolutely adore. From its stylish visuals to gripping story; if you want a more in depth look at what I had to say about Persona you can read my review on here (shameless plug) and see what I had to say on it. However for this I’ll just say that Persona 5 has been my favourite game of this year and therefore the best game of 2017.
