Janae Reign’s Dance is a Song of Joy
Words by Brinsley Chidavaenzi
Dance is a celebration of the human act of moving in a way that self expresses and with Janae’s newest song ‘Dance’ – she stays true to it’s principles and simplicity.
Dance thrusts and turns with blades of syncopation, both in vocal delivery and in instrumental production. The classicist dembow drum pattern locks in a timeless groove against the suggestion of latin-inspired synth keys. The star of the instrumentation is purely the vocals. There’s also a refreshing humanness across the track with it’s techniques being rather classic (no electronic pitch shifted vocals, no autotune where you can the robotic notes drip down, or filters or digitally industrial sounds present). It’s a blast in making the most minimal of instrumentation, a wall of sound for the dance floor.
Whereas vocally the track myriads the cadence of rap; R&B, and classic reggaeton whilst weaving pop sensibilities of catchiness that feel close to the soul avoiding predictable and clichéd ideas. Dance embraces the new age of empowering latin pop with self embrace, with a nod to reggaeton roots whilst being rooted in the present age of modern melodic anthems and self-acceptance. We embrace the message of Janae’s dance here and you should too.
