Daniel Caesar’s live vocals will make you fall in love

Very rarely does a singer sound exactly the same on CD as they do in real life.
We’ll get back to that. There was no opening act for Daniel Caesar at his second show in as many days at Koko. There was a DJ, who boasted a set over an hour long filled with 30 years of R&B hits to keep the crowd going. Hits from superstars and icons like Michael Jackson, Frank Ocean, Jorja Smith, Tyler and Drake kept the crowd hype and energetic, moving their feet, getting the drinks down and feeling good. After a long wait, Daniel Caesar, guitar around his neck, took the stage.
Back to my point; Very rarely does a singer sound exactly the same on CD as they do in real life. Daniel Caesar is one of these rare cases. At some points I could not believe that the 22 year old singer was not playing a backing track and that he was actually singing word for word. That’s how good this man sounds in real life. His songs that have features; he even sang the features part. Syd in Take Me Away or Kali Uchis in Get You. It was perfect.
Koko was filled with couples; everywhere you turned was a couple passionately kissing or literally, just holding each other. I didn’t expect anything less though; Daniel Caesar made music for relationships.
The concert itself was short, but that’s also expected. Daniel Caesar does not have a huge body of work, but as he, along with his fan base, grows, bigger venues and longer shows is something we can expect and be excited for from Daniel Caesar. Definitely a concert I would go to again.
